In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, governments around the world have implemented a variety of travel restrictions in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus. These restrictions have disproportionately impacted unvaccinated individuals, who are now facing discriminatory travel prohibitions.

The Science Behind Vaccination

Vaccines work by introducing a weakened or inactivated form of a virus into the body. This allows the body to develop immunity to the virus without actually getting sick. Vaccines are one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of disease.

The COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to be safe and effective in preventing serious illness, hospitalization, and death. They have also been shown to reduce the spread of the virus.

The Discrimination Against Unvaccinated Canadians

Despite the scientific evidence, unvaccinated Canadians are facing discriminatory travel prohibitions. These prohibitions are often based on the assumption that unvaccinated individuals are more likely to spread the virus. However, this assumption is not supported by the science.

In fact, a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that vaccinated and unvaccinated people are equally likely to spread the virus. The study also found that vaccinated people are less likely to develop serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19.

The Arguments Against Travel Prohibitions

There are a number of arguments against the travel prohibitions that are being imposed on unvaccinated Canadians.

  • The prohibitions are not based on science. As discussed above, there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that unvaccinated individuals are more likely to spread the virus than vaccinated individuals.
  • The prohibitions are discriminatory. The prohibitions are specifically targeting unvaccinated individuals, even though there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that they are more likely to spread the virus.
  • The prohibitions are harmful. The prohibitions are preventing unvaccinated Canadians from traveling for work, school, or to visit family and friends. This is causing significant hardship and stress for many Canadians.

The travel prohibitions that are being imposed on unvaccinated Canadians are discriminatory and harmful. They are not based on science, and they are causing significant hardship for many Canadians. It is time for these prohibitions to be lifted.
